Perseid Meteor Shower Viewing at Broemmelsiek Astronomy Park
WHAT: Perseid Meteor Shower Peak Activity
The Perseids are the most popular meteor shower of the year because they fall on warm summer nights. These particles from the comet Swift-Tuttle are active between July 17 and August 26, 2021. The best night for viewing will be August 11 because the moon will only be 13 percent full and will set just as the meteors start to appear, so you can expect to see between 50 to 75 meteors an hour. They are called Perseids because the meteors seem to originate near the constellation of Perseus the Hero.
